The MTD-CPD Concept (Continuing Professional Development)

The MTD-CPD concept serves as a structured and transparent method for documenting the continuous professional development of members of the medical-technical services (MTD). CPD points are the central tool for quantitatively recording and evaluating training activities.

Definition and Purpose of CPD Points

CPD points are standardized units used to assess the scope and quality of continuing education activities. They enable clear documentation of the legally required continuing education obligation in accordance with § 38 of the MTD Act in its current version.

One CPD point generally corresponds to one hour of training, although the exact crediting may depend on the format and depth of content of the respective activity.

Both formal learning offerings (e.g., seminars, conferences, certified online courses) and certain informal learning formats (e.g., studying professional literature or practice-based reflection) are eligible, provided they meet the requirements of the MTD-CPD guideline.

The system promotes quality assurance within the profession and supports the individual development of professionals.

Certificate Levels and Documentation

The MTD-CPD guideline provides for two certificate levels:

  • MTD-CPD Certificate: Proof of at least 80 CPD points within five years (corresponds to the legal minimum requirement).

  • MTD-CPD Certificate PLUS: Proof of at least 160 CPD points within the same period (a voluntary extension for higher quality standards).

Training activities and the associated CPD points are documented via a personal CPD point account.
You can collect CPD points as part of your continuing education through the PlatoX Academy!
